568 Maryhill Road was established as a community project in June 1995. The core project is situated in the north west of Glasgow within a refurbished red sandstone building comprising six flats (five two-bedroom flats and one flat for staff use). There is also a satellite flat in Braeside Street, which is only a couple of minutes walk away and this is for single occupancy. In total we provide accommodation for ten individuals.
We work in partnership with Glasgow Social Work Department and the local Health Care Trust to enable people with mental health problems to live within their community. Service users are supported on a daily basis with daily living skills, personal hygiene, physical, emotional, intellectual, cultural and spiritual needs. Service users will be encouraged to integrate into their local community as much as their skills will allow. Service users who use our service tend to have severe and enduring mental health issues, and may have associated alcohol, drug or self-harm needs in conjunction with their mental health difficulties.
Individuals eligible for admission can be of either sex in the age range of 18 – 65. Each service user has a key to their own flat, and have their own bedroom, sharing the communal areas of the flat, kitchen, sitting room and bathroom.
The staff team consists of a manager, depute manager, senior support workers and support workers. All have extensive experience of working with the client group.
