Our charitable foundation trust is dedicated to promoting the development of people with a learning disability and mental health difficulties. The charity trust aims to work with community organisations and charities to facilitate the development of unique services and to support families and carers of people with a learning disability and mental health difficulties.
The charity’s specific aims are:
- improving levels of patient care
- helping towards a more rewarding life for people with learning and mental health difficulties
- improving environments for patients and staff
- developing a relationship between people with learning and mental health difficulties and the wider community
- providing additional support for staff training
- providing financial support for the advancement of independent scientific and medical and social research
- growing levels of charitable giving to ensure the work can continue

Some of the proposed work the charity will focus on will include:
- a day centre for the use of people with a learning disability and mental health difficulties
- the provision of a hydrotherapy pool for local groups of disabled people sensory facilities
- a challenge course to encourage initiative and independent thought
- family rooms where patient and family can spend quality time together
- an education centre that will focus on improving numeracy, literacy and awareness of current affairs
- a nature reserve where people can watch and feed animals and birds in their natural habitat
- film club that will give patients the opportunity to view recent releases a hospital shop that will provide a basic introduction to social interaction
- awareness cards for emergency services to recognise signs of learning and mental health difficulties in people who require special understanding
- transport to ferry patients to external activities
- holidays and tours
