NEW SERVICE AT VISTA

Vista Healthcare has introduced a vital new service at its independent hospital in Winchfield, Hampshire.

A 32 week rehabilitation service is now in place which aims to prepare people for their stepdown into community accommodation.

The aim of the service is to provide a person centred package which will support individuals to achieve an ‘ordinary lifestyle’ which offers opportunities enjoyed by everyone. This means providing support to help people to take part in the life of their local community, develop skills, exercise choices and take control of their own lives, be seen and valued as individuals and develop a network of relationships.

The services we offer will:
  • promote choice and independence
  • increase access to local communities
  • develop skills necessary to live as independently as is possible
  • promote emotional literacy
  • provide the support and opportunity to gain meaningful employment experience
  • provide opportunities to develop social networks

Leading Nurse visits Vista

ANN NORMAN, Learning Disability and Criminal Justice Nurses Adviser for the Royal College of Nursing visited Vista Healthcare Independent Hospital recently.

After a tour of the hospital, which provides assessment and treatment for people with learning disability and mental health difficulties, Ann met nursing staff for an informal question and answer session.

The challenges regarding the under-provision of LD Nurses nationally and the prospect of mass retirement due to a large number of nurses reaching retirement age in the next five years were topics of discussion.

During her visit Ann Norman (centre) met Chief Executive Ade Odunlade and Business Development Director Cathe Gaskell
