VISTA staff, who have served for five years or more were recognised for their loyalty at an awards ceremony recently.
The award ceremony was part of an Open Day which also included a special presentation to chef Barrie Pemberton who is retiring.
Patients enjoyed a fun-filled afternoon which included an al fresco lunch, music, dancing and face painting as well as tombola and other competitions.
The afternoon was rounded off for patients with a Treasure Hunt around the Vista grounds.

Vista Healthcare has introduced a vital new service at its independent hospital in Winchfield, Hampshire.
A 32 week rehabilitation service is now in place which aims to prepare people for their stepdown into community accommodation.
The aim of the service is to provide a person centred package which will support individuals to achieve an ‘ordinary lifestyle’ which offers opportunities enjoyed by everyone. This means providing support to help people to take part in the life of their local community, develop skills, exercise choices and take control of their own lives, be seen and valued as individuals and develop a network of relationships.

- provide the support and opportunity to gain meaningful employment experience

ANN NORMAN, Learning Disability and Criminal Justice Nurses Adviser for the Royal College of Nursing visited Vista Healthcare Independent Hospital recently.
After a tour of the hospital, which provides assessment and treatment for people with learning disability and mental health difficulties, Ann met nursing staff for an informal question and answer session.
The challenges regarding the under-provision of LD Nurses nationally and the prospect of mass retirement due to a large number of nurses reaching retirement age in the next five years were topics of discussion.

Vista Healthcare has appointed Stephen Lawson to head its Supported Living service.
Stephen is a Registered Nurse in learning Disabilities who first started working within Supported Living Services in 1987. He has developed Supported Living services throughout the North and Southwest of England working within the NHS and the independent sector. Stephen believes that person–centred Supported Living services can best meet the holistic principles of the Valuing people Document 2001.

Lord Bradley, whose recent report "The Review of People with Mental Health Problems and Learning Disability in the Criminal Justice System", was a guest of Vista Healthcare Independent Hospital last month.
During his visit, Lord Bradley opened the new sensory suite and spoke to staff and patients and congratulated them on their work.
"You cannot deliver the best service without a sense of a supportive environment and working in decent conditions. I see quality with committed staff, a sense of engagement and understanding at Vista," he said.
Following a tour of the facilities Lord Bradley met staff for a question and answer session.
